Austria: Top of Innsbruck
Innsbruck, Austria

June 18, 2022
Drove 4.5 hrs on my first European solo road trip to another country and I didn’t get lost this time! It was a spontaneous trip and I pretty much booked my lodging and my paragliding activity the night before my trip.
How to get to Top of Innsbruck:
You take the cable car to Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen Betriebs GmbH (Nordkette).
There is a designated parking lot at the Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen Betriebs GmbH (Nordkette), however, the parking there is limited, so I parked my vehicle at Höhenstrabe 100, 6020 Innsbruck, Austria. I paid €4 (All day until 6pm). Make sure to bring exact change.
I arrived at the parking lot at 0800 and walked 4 mins to Innsbrucker Nordkettenbahnen Betriebs GmbH (Nordkette) to take the cable car. They open at 8am and paid €33.60 round trip.
You have to take 2 cable cars to get to Top of Innsbruck. From the station, you will be on the Seegrube and then Hafelekar. I started my trek from on Top of Innsbruck via Mandlscharte and took me approximately 4-5 hrs to conquer the trail.

The trail is intermediate. There are some narrow sections and some decent incline to Mandlscharte.
During this time, I got to see a lot of sheep. There are a couple of occasions where I had to go around them since they were blocking the trail.

Please bring ample of water, snacks and sunscreen. It was a hot day. There are restaurants on Top of Innsbruck. Definitely a great place to eat lunch after a long hike. Most of the restaurants in Austria only take cash so make sure you have enough.
